Walter Chao, OD, AP, Dipl. Ac. (NCCA)
Dr. Chao is really a general and pediatric optometrist, but offers an unusual and eclectic background. He holds Florida licenses in both optometry and acupuncture, and has interests in nutrition, energetic medicine, and the interaction of genetics and environment in health. His patients know there is no telling what he may be learning and sharing next. His longstanding interests are myopia, nutrition and the role of visual skills on learning. Some current interests are dry eye, macular degeneration, the role of visualization in reading and math, and complementary treatments for allergy, ADHD and autism.
Dr. Chao particularly loves examining younger children, and trying to convert worried kids into comfortable kids. He feels regular preventive visits should start by age three, particularly if there is a family history of myopia or other eye conditions.
